QuiltCon: Day 1. Awards.

Wow. QuiltCon is a lot to take in. I’m glad I’ll be here for a few days.

I’m taking a little break and thought I’d go ahead and post some quick pics from the morning from the awards ceremony.

I don’t envy the judges, because I would have had the toughest time. There are soo many amazing quilts, and I’m not just saying that. There’s a good range of work that is technically and visually strong too.

Here’s the quilt that won Best of Show. It’s by Victoria Findlay Wolfe and is seriously so amazing.

And obviously much deserved. Love the fabrics. Love it all.

Quilting excellence winner–also incredible. Karen Anderson-Abraham from Santa Barbara.

And then, a TOTAL honor for me was getting Best Machine Quilting for my Local quilt. Wow. Totally blows my mind. (notice my supercool “I

My lil shirts got some love by placing 3rd in the miniature category.

There are so many others, and I’ve basically just done a preliminary sweep. The plan is to bite off a row at a time over the next few days.

Excellent blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers?
I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m a little
lost on everything. Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid
option? There are so many options out there that I’m totally confused .. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Thanks Baju! I use wordpress and like it. I think they are all probably good, and the best thing to do is just get started and have fun. 🙂 Happy blogging!
