QuiltCon: Day 1. Awards.

Wow. QuiltCon is a lot to take in. I’m glad I’ll be here for a few days.

I’m taking a little break and thought I’d go ahead and post some quick pics from the morning from the awards ceremony.

I don’t envy the judges, because I would have had the toughest time. There are soo many amazing quilts, and I’m not just saying that. There’s a good range of work that is technically and visually strong too.

Here’s the quilt that won Best of Show. It’s by Victoria Findlay Wolfe and is seriously so amazing.

And obviously much deserved. Love the fabrics. Love it all.

And then, a TOTAL honor for me was getting Best Machine Quilting for my Local quilt. Wow. Totally blows my mind. (notice my supercool “I

My lil shirts got some love by placing 3rd in the miniature category.

There are so many others, and I’ve basically just done a preliminary sweep. The plan is to bite off a row at a time over the next few days.

    It was lovely to meet you via the Lovely Ellen today. Your work is amazing!! I am here with Sew Batik, and I will look for you again. Congrats on the awards, you deserve them…I saw your quilts. Your houses quilt is my personal favorite, and I love the quilting as well.
